Ariel Plasencia is a Multi-Media Journalist for NBC Charlotte.

Before moving to Charlotte, Ariel anchored WITN News at Noon and also reported for WITN, the NBC affiliate in Greenville, NC. She covered Hurricane Matthew and several notable campaign events during the 2016 presidential election.

Ariel grew up in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and Spanish. She continued her education at Georgetown University, where she earned a master’s in journalism.

Ariel held valuable internships in the sports department at WUSA in Washington, D.C., and the research department at NBC Telemundo in Chicago. She also studied abroad in Spain for a semester.

In her free time, Ariel enjoys running, cheering for her Chicago/Northwestern sports teams and going on road trips with her husband.
