Evan West joined NBC Charlotte in April 2017 as a reporter/multiskilled journalist.
Born and bred in Beaumont, Texas and educated at Lamar University, Evan is a seventh generation Texan but he feels right at home in the Carolinas, spending two years in Charleston, South Carolina as the Sports Director at WCBD-TV (NBC).
Competitive as Cam Newton on a Sunday, he left the sports department to join the awesome news crew in the Queen City.
He prides himself on being a passionate storyteller. In January 2017, Evan was recognized for his work and awarded the Excellence in My Market Award (EMMA) for his feature "Coaching with Cancer" by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Southeast division. He was also awarded with back-to-back EMMA's for "Best Sports Anchor" in 2015 and 2016.
Before moving to Charleston, Evan spent two years in the Bayou City, as the sports producer at KPRC-TV in Houston, Texas.
A self-proclaimed "foodie," Evan enjoys exploring Crown Town's restaurant scene. He says his early favorites are the White Trash Burger at Pinky's, the fried fish sandwich at Price's Chicken Coop and the smoked wings at Mac's Speed Shop.
