RALEIGH, N.C. – A new bill filed in the North Carolina General Assembly would allow restaurants to serve alcohol on Sunday mornings.

Senate Bill 155, dubbed the “brunch bill,” would give city and county governments the option of allowing restaurants to begin selling alcohol at 10 a.m. on Sundays, instead of the current 12 p.m. mandate.

“If they feel like this would be good for their local economy, they can do it,” said Rick Gunn, a Republican from Alamance County that filed the bill.
