CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- With July quickly approaching, it's time to start making plans for your summer. The Charlotte area offers a ton of free or affordable activities for families, pets, and adults that will make your summer memorable.

Here are a few events you may want to put on your calendar:

Summer Pops: Celebrate America with the Charlotte Symphony

When: July 1, 8:15 p.m.

Where: Symphony Park at SouthPark

Price: $5 in advance for kids, $15 in advance for adults

Join the Charlotte Symphony for a rousing salute to America with a night of patriotic favorites, including God Bless America and the armed forces medley. The night will be topped off with a spectacular fireworks display. Click here for more information.

Charlotte Knights July Fourth Fireworks

When: July 3

Where: BB&T Ballpark

Price: $8 & up

Get a head start on your July Fourth fireworks celebrations by taking in the show after the Knights home game against Gwinnett on July 3. The game is also part of the Knight's All-American Mondays promotion that runs all season long.

Fourth of July celebration at BB&T Ballpark

When: July 4, 2 p.m. - 10 p.m. (approximately)

Where: BB&T Ballpark, Romare Bearden Park

Price: Free - $20

Let freedom ring with Charlotte's biggest Fourth of July celebration in uptown. Starting at 2 p.m., a free street festival will take place outside BB&T Ballpark with live music, carnival rides, bounce houses and more. Then, at 6 p.m., Team USA takes on Team Cuba before the SkyShow Fireworks Spectacular lights up the sky! Buy tickets for the game here.

Not interested in the game? No worries, you'll be able to take in the fireworks extravaganza from Romare Bearden Park. You'll want to get there early, though, to make sure you have a nice spot. For more information about the event, click here.

Carowinds Military Days

When: July 3, 4, 5

Where: Carowinds

Price: Free with military ID

To honor America's independence, Carowinds will offer free admission to any active, inactive, or retired United States service members on July 3, 4, and 5 as part of its military days promotion. To close out the Fourth of July, Carowinds will have fireworks.

Dog Days of Summer Fest

When: July 15, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Where: Lucky Dog Bark & Brew – 2220 Thrift Road, Charlotte

Price: Free - $25 (pageant entry fee)

Lucky Dog Bark and Brew will be hosting the inaugural Dog Days of Summer Fest in July. Doors open at 12 p.m. with local vendors showcasing their products and services for you and your pup. From noon until 3 p.m., you can sign up your dog to enter the Doggie Days Summer Pageant.

Charlotte Restaurant Week

When: July 21-30

Where: Over 130 Charlotte-area restaurants

Price: $30 - $35

What's not to love about restaurant week? You'll get to enjoy a three-course meal from some of Charlotte's best meal spots for about $35. With over 130 restaurants across nine counties participating, there's guaranteed to be something for everyone's taste.

CLT Burger Week

When: July 24-30

Where: Over 40 restaurants across Charlotte

Price: $5

Starting Monday, July 24, you can take a bite out of Charlotte’s best burgers for just $5 a burger. A number of Queen City restaurants will be participating, including Babalu, Hwy 55 Burgers, and The Brass Tap. Not only will get you to eat cheap, delicious burgers, but participants will be encouraged to vote for one of the over 40 participating restaurants as Charlotte’s best.
