Study assesses which vehicles offer greatest potential lifespan for drivers in Charlotte

Which car and truck manufacturer is king when it comes to durability? According to a new study, it's Toyota.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — With car prices near record levels and the economy the way it is currently, having a vehicle with longevity is more important now than ever before.

So how do you know if your ride will go the distance? Automotive search engine iSeeCars analyzed over 2 million cars to see which vehicles offer the greatest potential lifespan for drivers in Charlotte.

It turns out, the top two models are Toyotas.

The study found the Sequoia and Land Cruiser models both lasted nearly 300,000 miles over the past 20 years. In fact, Toyotas account for 10 of the top 20 models able to reach over 230,000 miles according to the iSeeCars study.

Along with the Sequoia and Land Cruiser, the other Toyotas making the list include the Tundra, the Prius, the Avalon, the Highlander Hybrid, the 4Runner, the Sienna, the Tacoma and the Camry Hybrid models.

While Toyota dominates the pack, Chevrolet, Honda, GMC, Ford and Nissan all have at least one model making iSeeCars top 20 for potential longevity.

Even if you don't plan on getting to that 200,000-plus mile mark in your vehicle, experts say having one with a track record of durability might make you more money if, and when, you decide to sell.
