Financial help available for Mecklenburg County families at risk of having their utilities cut off

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — While there are ways to save on your energy bills, costs can still be expensive this time of the year with rising temperatures. There is help for those struggling to pay those bills.

Crisis Assistance Ministry is offering financial help for families in Mecklenburg County who are at risk of having their utilities cut off or eviction.

Those interested will need to apply with the ministry. Applications can be submitted in person at 500-A Spratt Street from Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“The temperatures this week are dangerously high and it’s important for people to know there is help," Carol Hardison, CEO of the nonprofit agency, said in a statement. "We do not want anyone living without utilities or being evicted at any time, but this week makes the urgency even clearer."

Crisis Assistance Ministry says consultations and assessments for assistance are done via phone to allow families to return to work and other obligations.
