Affordable houses coming to this historic part of Charlotte

They will build 39 affordable homes on the site of the old Plato Price school. It served Black students in west Charlotte from 1915 to 1966 before de-segregation.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Habitat for Humanity is breaking ground on a new community in a historic part of Charlotte.

They will build 39 affordable homes on the site of the old Plato Price school. The school served Black students in west Charlotte from 1915 to 1966 before de-segregation.

The new development will be named The Meadows at Plato Price in honor of the school. This is the largest raw-land development ever for the Charlotte chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
