CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A 15-year old student is facing charges after Charlotte Mecklenburg Police say he recorded another student using the restroom. It happened Tuesday in a boys’ bathroom at Vance High School.
An 18-year-old senior told NBC Charlotte he was using the restroom when he looked up and saw another student with a cell phone, recording him over the bathroom stall.
“It’s not shocking nowadays, because most kids can do whatever they want to do and get away with most stuff," said Anna Juarez.
The suspect is not getting off the hook that easy. CMPD charged him with "peeping Tom" -- which North Carolina classifies as a Class A1 misdemeanor, the most serious type in the state.
If found guilty, the 15-year-old could spend 150 days in jail. The suspect is also accused of showing other students the footage of the 18-year-old in the bathroom stall.
We reached out to Charlotte Mecklenburg Officials who said students who violate the code of conduct would be disciplined accordingly.
