CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A bank robbery suspect was taken into custody Thursday morning in Steele Creek.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at Wells Fargo at 712 Tyvola Road. Police said the suspect, identified as Ronald Lee Parker, 49, entered the bank and demanded money after pulling a gun on an employee. Parker ran from the bank but was caught after a brief chase.

Police said Parker used a BB gun during the robbery. After being interviewed by detectives, Parker was charged with common law robbery. He was also served several outstanding warrants on charges unrelated to the bank robbery.
