UNION COUNTY, N.C. – Deputies in Union County confirmed that a body found in Indian Trail earlier this month was that of Nathaniel Townsend.

A spokesperson for the Union County Sheriff's Office confirmed the news to NBC Charlotte Thursday. Officials have not yet determined the cause of Townsend's death.

“Nothing conclusive on cause of death. No injuries noted during autopsy. Therefore, no suspects at this time unless a toxicology report finds something suspicious," the Sheriff's Office says.

Townsend was reported missing on October 15. He was last seen wearing a navy jacket, black workout pants with a gray stripe and black tennis shoes.

The body was found near Sunnyside Circle and Independence Drive. Deputies say the body was discovered by utility workers in the area. The body has been taken to the medical examiner's office, where the remains will be identified and a cause of death determined.
