LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. -- A child was seriously hurt Thursday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle in Lincoln County.
It happened around 3:45 p.m. at 1646 Startown Road in Lincolnton. North Carolina Highway Patrol, Lincolnton Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
The child was airlifted to a nearby hospital. The victim's name and age were not released.
Lincoln County Schools confirmed the child was coming home from school at the time of the accident, and a school bus from Childers Elementary was one of the first vehicles on the scene and stayed until police arrived.
