CHARLOTTE, N.C. – If you need to fill up your car’s gas tank, there’s a good reason to do so Thursday.
Circle K is teaming up with high schools in six counties across the Charlotte area for a fundraiser, with 10 cents from every gallon sold being donated to 20 local schools.
The campaign, aptly named “Fueling Our Schools,” is in its third year of helping fund on-campus projects. Last year, Circle K was able to raise $900,000 for 350 schools across the country. Schools in Gaston, Mecklenburg, Mooresville City, Union, Watauga and York counties will all benefit from this year’s campaign.
The benefit runs from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, but if you don’t fill up Thursday, don’t worry. Throughout the entire year, schools will receive one cent for every gallon sold at their sponsoring store.
“We always try to get corporate sponsors, and with the help of National Amateur Sports and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, all 19 high schools were able to find a Circle K to be a corporate sponsor to help them with funds for our programs,” said Providence High School Athletic Director Ken Konstanty.
