CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- 'Tis the season of giving and one North Carolina family is asking for a special gift you can't find in stores.
"It would mean everything in the world to me and my family for me to be able to get a kidney," said Linda Conard, a woman in need of a kidney donor.
No doubt it's the holiday's and shopping season is in full swing. Many people are on a mission to find that perfect Christmas present. For some, that gift comes wrapped in a box and nestled underneath a tree, but not for everyone.
Christy Wilde Plott and Linda Conard are asking for something a little different this Christmas.
"I just want to live and have a quality life," said Conard.
Two things you can't put a price on.
"That's all my children want, my husband, my grandchildren," said Conard.
Linda is sick. She's been battling health issues for months.
"Losing my kidneys has been a journey no one would know unless you've been there," said Conard.
Desperate for a donor this holiday season, Linda and her daughter Christy did something outside of the box.
"My car says my mom needs a kidney and has my number," said Christy. "My daughter's car says my grammie needs a kidney."
"I had a brake light out that I was unaware of and the police officer asked for my phone number and said she would share my story," said Plott.
But after weeks, there's still no match and that's where everyone watching this story comes into play. For Linda, it truly would be the gift that keeps on giving.
"Best present that we could ever have," said Conard.
