Arrest made in connection with multiple armed robbery attempts

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Hickory Grove Division have charged 22-year-old Marquez Alston for his involvement in the cases below.

On December 12 at 4 p.m., Hickory Grove Division Officers responded to an armed robbery call for service that occurred in the 6500 block of Yateswood Drive. The victim told officials he was robbed by two armed males while he was working on his vehicle.  

The suspects allegedly forced the victim to go inside of his residence, then demanded property from everyone inside.  

A short time later at 4:37 p.m., Hickory Grove Division Officers responded to an armed robbery in the 8000 block of Sherington Way. Upon arrival, officers were told the victim was robbed by two suspects at gunpoint while he working on his vehicle. 

Officers in the Real Time Crime Center were able to locate Marquez Alston, who is on electronic monitoring, in close proximity to both incidents.  

Officers, with the assistance of RTCC and K-9, located and detained Alston and transported him to be interviewed, after which Alston was charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, felony breaking and entering, kidnapping, and four counts of false imprisonment.
