CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police are investigating after one person was shot in east Charlotte Friday afternoon.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers responded to a reported shooting in the 8200 block of Thornhaven Court a little after 2 p.m. Police were told that one person was shot in the leg.

When officers arrived at the scene, they were told that a group of people got into a fight at another location before getting to Thornhaven Court, which led to the shooting.

Officials confirmed that one patient was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with injuries that aren't considered life-threatening.

Police have not identified a suspect or made any arrests in connection with the shooting.

About two miles away from this incident, CMPD responded to a shooting at a McDonald's restaurant. A man suffered life-threatening injuries in that incident, according to officials.

Police have not determined of the shootings are connected.
