Juveniles charged in southwest Charlotte homicide

Police said when they arrived, their officers located a man with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene by MEDIC.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two 16-year-old juveniles have been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a man in southwest Charlotte Wednesday night.

Police report shortly before 10:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, their officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service in the 800 block of Farmhurst Drive, which is near Nations Ford Road. 

Police said when they arrived, their officers located a man with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene by MEDIC. The victim was identified as Jevon Ayala, 21. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said two 16-year-olds were identified as suspects in the case. Both suspects, who have not been named due to their age, were arrested and charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm by a minor. One of the suspects was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.
