CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating the death of a woman, whose body was found in a car outside of a Carolinas Medical Center in University City.
Around 5:11 p.m. Tuesday, University City Division patrol officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service where a vehicle had been shot into at the intersection of E. W T Harris Boulevard and N. Tryon Street.
When officers arrived, they saw a vehicle stopped in the roadway with a female victim, identified as Chirrelle Nicole Scott, 29, in the driver’s seat, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was pronounced deceased on the scene.
"Just shock, I can’t believe something like this would happen so close to home,” said Megan Stevenson, who lives only miles from the crime scene.
“I’ve never seen anything like this, especially in front of a hospital, I think that’s the most shocking part, that it’s right in front of a hospital where emergency care is, where people come and go all day.”
“Usually you expect this in the back roads, not really in town,” Stevenson said, “not in a location as prominent as this with this many people, you’d think somebody saw something.”
The investigation is still active and ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call 704-432-TIPS.
