'I always protected him' | Brother of man killed in Charlotte restaurant shooting hoping for justice

According to police, a fight inside Fox & Hound sparked the deadly shooting. The victim's family is now sharing their pain.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man is dead following a shooting at the Fox & Hound restaurant in north Charlotte, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department reports.

On Wednesday, police confirmed the victim was 21-year-old Jamielle Clements.

Clements' older brother, Donyeh Cosby, spoke with WCNC Charlotte. He said Clements always stayed out of trouble. Late Tuesday night, Clements was shot and killed outside of the restaurant where he worked as a cook.

“I’m so sad I wasn’t there to protect my brother because I always protected him,” Cosby said.

According to police, a fight inside the restaurant sparked the deadly shooting. Police said Clements later died at the hospital.

“From my understanding, the suspect's card was either declining or invalid and he was asked to leave,” Cosby said. “He was asked to leave, he left, he came back and the incident escalated.”

At this time, police are still looking for a suspect in the deadly shooting. Cosby and his family are hoping for a quick arrest.

“I hope his killer is caught. I hope justice is served. I want him to know that he took an innocent life. A man, a boy wrong of nothing,” Cosby said.

Clement's brother said he was just coming into his own as an adult, learning to drive and working several jobs to gain independence.

“Young, spirited, joyful, cheerful, strong, determined, and focused. He was his own individual," Cosby said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 to leave an anonymous tip or share it online.
