CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Federal investigators are searching for a man known as the “Ball Cap Bandit,” who they say is responsible for five bank robberies across North Carolina.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI is working with law enforcement in Hickory, Mebane, Newton, Mocksville, and Durham to locate the suspect.

Investigators describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 5-foot-5 with a thin build and in his mid-50s. During each of the five robberies, the suspect is seen wearing a baseball cap.

Federal authorities are searching for a man dubbed the "Ball Cap Bandit." Investigators say he is responsible for five bank robberies across North Carolina last month. 

The robberies began on Aril 13 when he robbed a BB&T bank in Hickory. Detectives say the last robbery occurred April 28 at the State Employees’ Credit Union in Durham.
