WADESBORO, N.C. -- Detectives in Anson County are investigating after one person was killed in a double shooting Tuesday night.

According to Wadesboro Police, the shooting happened around 10 p.m. in the 600 block of Highway 74.

Mary Little told NBC Charlotte that the father of her daughter was shot and killed after he was caught in crossfire across the street from Wadesboro Discount Grocery. She said that two people were shooting at a person coming out of the store, and when that person saw the shooters, they ran across the street. That's where Wallace was fatally shot, Little said.

"You can't come back from losing your father," said Wallace's daughter, Twaini Holt. "You just gotta move on. So, the next still will be a funeral.

"Taking a life is not right. And then taking the life of my dad, who was sick (and) on medication, didn't have nothing to do with this. It's not right. It's so wrong."

Family identified the man killed as 60-year-old Wallace Sturdivant. He was the father of two daughters and had four grandchildren. Family members say he walked with a cane and was battling kidney failure.

A witness said the second victim was airlifted to the hospital. Police at the scene said that person was critically injured.
