UNION COUNTY, N.C. – An Indian Trail man was arrested after deputies said he set his father’s home on fire after an argument.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and other emergency crews responded to a house fire in the 5200 block of Old Monroe Road in Indian Trail. When crews arrived, they found several people outside the home, which was seen on fire with smoke and flames showing.

After the fire was extinguished, fire officials determined the fire was intentionally set. Police identified Joshua Taylor Hargett, 23, as the suspect, and said an argument between him and his father was the most likely motivation for the arson. Hargett was charged with first-degree arson.
