CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A woman was shot and killed north of uptown Charlotte Wednesday afternoon, police say, and Friday, authorities made an arrest in the case.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers responded to a shooting call in the 900 block of North Tryon Street just after 3:30. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Brittany Carelock, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Friday afternoon, CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team coordinated with Rock Hill Police and arrested Marquise Detrea Teeter in connection with Carelock's murder.

Teeter is in the custody of the York County Sheriff's Office awaiting extradition back to Charlotte where he will be charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
