CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged a man with the murder of 17-year-old in southwest Charlotte.

According to CMPD, officers responded to reports of a fight in the 13500 block of Armour Ridge Drive just before 6:30 Thursday night. When officers arrived, Jahee Tycari Hoke was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene by MEDIC.

Hoke was killed the day before his birthday. He would have been 18 on Friday.

Investigators identified Terrance Darryl Gilbert, 28, as the suspect. He was apprehended by CMPD's VCAT unit Saturday morning. He was charged with Hoke's murder and is currently in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
