CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. – Deputies in Caldwell County have arrested a man in connection with the armed robbery of a convenience store Thursday morning.
Caldwell County deputies responded to a reported armed robbery at Pappy’s Market on Dudley Shoals Road in Granite Falls shortly after 7 a.m. The clerk told police the suspect entered the store carrying a rifle and took property before forcing the clerk into the back room and left the store.
Detectives identified 20-year-old Isaiah Monty Simmons of Lenoir as the suspect in the robbery. He was taken into custody Thursday evening near his home.
Simmons was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, false imprisonment, driving with a revoked license, possession of suspected marijuana and possession of opioids. He is being held under a $102,000 bond in the Caldwell County Jail.
