CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Cornelius man was arrested after police say he stole a vehicle and used a stolen debit card to purchase items at Walmart.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported stolen vehicle to an address off of Brawley School Road in Mooresville on January 30. The victim also told police that he was being alerted by his bank about several transactions being made on his debit card at Walmart in Mooresville.
Officers went to the Walmart store and obtained surveillance video of the suspect, identified as Marcus Tyler Holloway, 25, of Cornelius, pulling into the parking lot with the stolen vehicle and completing two transactions.
Detectives arrested Holloway after an investigation and charged him with felony larceny of a motor vehicle, three counts of felony identity theft, and one count of financial card theft. He was given a $20,000 bond on those charges, officials said.
Police recovered the stolen vehicle in Charlotte.
