Police arrest man wanted in January's brazen armed robbery at convenience store

Deonte Brice was also arrested Monday, accused of boarding a school bus as a registered sex offender.

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- Police have arrested a man who they believe was the gunman in January's violent armed robbery in Gaston County that was caught on camera.

Back in late January, NBC Charlotte received a dramatic surveillance video that captured a gunman robbing the Lowell Mini Mart on McAdenville Road and attacking a clerk and her teenage son right in front of the clerk's 4-year-old grandson.

Police arrested Deonte Brice Wednesday in connection with January's brutal attack.

Brice appeared in court Thursday afternoon via video feed on the following charges: robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon.

"I don't have nothing to do with this, your honor," Brice said. "I was in Charlotte, and I got witness [sic]."

A judge gave Brice a $1 million secured bond prompting Brice to slump down in his chair before storming out.

Brice's case is expected to be presented to a grand jury in the coming weeks.

Brice's mugshot was from Monday's arrest after he was accused of boarding a school bus as a registered sex offender.

Investigators previously said Brice boarded a bus filled with Bessemer City Primary School Students back in January despite being banned from any premises "that have a primary purpose of caring for children."

Brice was convicted of indecent liberties with a child in 2016.
