REMBERT, S.C. -- A nationwide search is underway for two rare Marsh Tacky horses who were stolen from Dragoon Horse Farm in Kershaw County back in April.

Jackie McFadden owns the horses, River and Yago, who were taken after someone cut into the farm's back gate.

"It's awful. It's a nightmare," McFadden said. "It's part of my family that's out there, and I need to bring them home."

River and Yago are two of less than 400 Marsh Tackies left in existence.

McFadden got both of the horses from a friend as a gift for her efforts to make the breed South Carolina's official state horse.

"It's just sickening feeling to not to be able to find them, not being able to help them," she said. "I've got to find her. I've got to get her back."

Her search has spread nationally on social media, and she said she received messages from people in all 50 states.

A $2,000 reward is being offered for their safe return. To keep track of the search, click here.
