HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- A mother and her two children were shot in an attempted robbery Monday night in north Harris County near Houston, according to authorities.
One of the wounded children, a 4-year-old girl, died overnight.
Harris County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a shooting call just before 9 p.m. at the Mission Falls apartments in the 10400 block of Greens Crossing Boulevard.
Authorities said a 27-year-old mother and her two children, ages 10 and 4, were taking groceries back and forth to the apartment when two men pulled up to them in a dark colored sedan.
Police said the men got out the car demanding the mother for her purse which she refused to give. One of the suspects pulled a handgun and shot the victims multiple times.
The victims were taken to the hospital where the mom and the surviving child continued to undergo treatment.
"We have investigators here, deputies combing through, hopefully we’ll be able to catch a break and catch these guys," said Deputy Thomas Gilliland.
