Suspect arrested after woman shot in leg outside east Charlotte nightclub

A suspect is in custody after a shooting outside an east Charlotte club left one woman injured early Sunday morning.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A suspect is in custody after a shooting outside an east Charlotte club that left a woman injured early Sunday morning.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the incident happened at Crystal Reggae Club on The Plaza around 2 a.m.

The suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Kadijah Goosby, and another woman reportedly got into a fight inside the club. The suspect then went to her car to retrieve a gun. The woman followed Goosby outside, at which point police say Goosby started opening fire.

The victim, an adult woman, was standing in line at the club and was hit in the leg by a stray round. She was not involved in the argument and was hit accidentally, according to police.

The victim was transported to CMC Main for treatment of her not life-threatening injuries.

Goosby has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, simple assault and assault by pointing a gun.
