CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating after they say three men got away with dozens of electronics from a Steele Creek Target Monday night.
According to CMPD, the alleged thieves got away with 29 iPads and 19 Apple Watches, valued at just under $25,000.
Police say one of the suspects was armed with a hammer.
On Tuesday, frequent shoppers were surprised to hear the news.
"Kind of shocking," said Mike Blom. "Wouldn't have expected that."
"I'm kind of in shock because I feel like this is a pretty safe area, and I'm here all the time,” said Michelle Roy Choudhuri.
According to CMPD, the robbery happened a little before 11 p.m., which is when the store closes.
"It's scary, like, if it was during open hours, you know it makes me think twice about going when it's late at night,” said Michelle.
Despite the incident, shoppers say what happened Monday would not keep them from shopping at Target in the future.
"Stuff happens during the daytime so you know, you just have to be really aware anytime you go anywhere,” Choudhuri said.
NBC Charlotte has reached out to Target but has not heard back from the retailer.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
