Person found dead in west Charlotte home after domestic violence call, police say

Police didn't have many details immediately, but confirmed a homicide investigation was launched.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person was found dead after a shooting in west Charlotte early Saturday, prompting police to launch a homicide investigation.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department had few initial details, but confirmed a person was pronounced dead along Sadler Road near Dixie River Drive. More information was promised from officers via an alert shared on Twitter.

Later in the evening on Nov. 27, CMPD said they were responding to a home on Sadler Road for a domestic violence call. 

Officers were able to get into the home and found 58-year-old Samuel Sherrod Gregory with an apparent gunshot wound. While lifesaving efforts were attempted, Medic pronounced Gregory dead at the scene.
