CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say one person is hospitalized after a shooting took place in west Charlotte Saturday afternoon.
CMPD says officers responded to a call of assault with a deadly weapon in the 2400 block of Berryhill Road. Upon arrival, officers located a man with a gunshot wound.
A witness told NBC Charlotte's crew on the scene that the wounded man used the witness' phone to call his girlfriend before calling 911. The witness went on to commend the man for his "realness."
"When (you're) real, the first person you call -- in any situation -- is your girl," witness says.
