CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One woman is being treated for injures after shots were fired in west Charlotte Sunday night.

According to Charlotte- Mecklenburg Police, officers responded to a breaking and entering call on the 1500 block of Clanton Road around 9:30 p.m.

Police say the victim was a woman in her 20s and was at home with a child and one family member.

Earlier in the evening, the victim was involved in an altercation with a group of subjects in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

After the incident the woman returned to her apartment. A group of eight female suspects later forced their way into her apartment. The victim attempted to escape from the suspects by climbing out an upstairs window onto the roof.

Additional suspects were outside and shot at her from below. The woman was hit by two bullets.

The woman was transported to CMC Main for treatment of not life-threatening injuries. The other people in the apartment were not injured.

Two other apartments were hit by gunfire. No one else was injured.
