Dramatic pictures show worker getting robbed at ATM

Officers tried to track down the suspects with the help of Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department's helicopter unit and a K-9, as well as a Union County Sheriff's Office K-9, but they were unsuccessful.

MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Police said a man was robbed while servicing an ATM outside a bank in Matthews Thursday.

It happened around 12 p.m. at a Bank of America ATM at 10060 E. Independence Blvd. Investigators said the Loomis Fargo employee was held up at gun point by two men.

"Obviously, someone prepared for something like that, it’s kind of scary,” said ATM user, Kayla Harris.

Police said two schools, Butler High and Crestdale Middle, were placed on lockdown as a precaution while officers searched for the men.

“I hear the helicopters continuous,” said Shayna Grogan. “I saw police coming out with canine.”

Grogan’s daughter goes to Crestdale Middle School.

“Once I had her in my custody, I was much better,” said Grogan.
