CHARLOTTE, N.C. – There’s just something about Larry Sprinkle.

From his annual “Larry’s Friends” every Halloween to his lovable sense of humor, Charlotte’s beloved forecaster is always putting smiles on the faces of Charlotteans.

“If you’ve been around long enough, you grow on people. If I do, I don’t know what that way is,” Sprinkle said.

And now, Larry’s being celebrated with not one, but two Charlotte magazine “Best of the Best” awards, by being named Best TV Personality and Best Weather Forecaster in 2017.

It’s that modest, genuine, unassuming nature that makes you love Larry that much more. If you don't believe us, just take his fans at their word, who took to social media to congratulate Larry on his awards.

“I’m humbled by the way people respond,” Sprinkle explained. “Knowing that people are looking forward to you being on television to relate to them, and they really count on you.”

And it’s not just what you see on the air that helps him stand out. Championing causes that those in our area care about means more than just going through the motions for Larry.

“If somebody takes the time to call me or email, how can I say no to that? If I say no to that person, then I’m saying no to all of those people who need help,” he said.

From the Boys and Girls Club, several animal shelters, KinderMourn, Holy Angles, Loaves and Fishes, Goodwill, The Salvation Army, Community Blood Bank, Children’s Miracle Network, and so many more, what matters to you, matters to him.

“It does mean a lot to have been in the community so long and to be such a part of it,” Sprinkle said. “I can’t image being anywhere else than right here.”
