CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Take a bite out of the Queen City at the 19th annual Taste of Charlotte.

There will be music, entertainment, and a chance to sample more than 100 restaurants.

“It’s great, you know, if you’ve been thinking about trying out some restaurants, but you haven’t been there yet, you can come Uptown this weekend and you can sample portions of their menu items,” says Marketing Coordinator Carrie Griffin

Essex Bar and Bistro is participating for the first time. The popular restaurant opened in the summer of 2016 at the corner of Trade and Tryon.

Essex's Director of Operations Jeff Wakem says the event is a great way to get new faces in the restaurant.

“It’s a great opportunity to meet a lot of people, get your food out to a lot of people,” Wakem says. “There’s tens of thousands of people walking up and down the street, so it’s a great opportunity maybe for some folks who have never visited our restaurant to try something. For just a couple of bucks they get to try one of our great and then hopefully we’ll see them back in the restaurant.”

While food is the main menu item at the Taste, there’s also music and plenty of kids activities. Admission is free. You can purchase tasting coins along Tryon for food sampling.
