LANCASTER, S.C. -- Authorities have launched an investigation into the death of a 3-year-old found unresponsive and unconscious Monday afternoon.

According to Lancaster Police, authorities were called to the 400 block of Heath Circle in reference to an unresponsive child around noon Monday. When they arrived, authorities said they found the child lying on her back in the living room.

Emergency response were unable to find a pulse or respiration and immediately transported the child to Springs Memorial Emergency Room by police vehicle with police and fire personnel administering CPR.

Once at the hospital, despite continued treatment and efforts, officials were unable to revive the child.

The Lancaster Child Fatality Task Force launched an investigation into the child's death. Autopsy results are expected sometime Tuesday.
