CHARLOTTE, N.C. – From gingerbread houses to dinosaurs, to cookie factories, and more, the floats at Thursday’s Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade are sure to wow spectators.
“Once August came, it was all hands on deck,” said Center City Partners’ Steven Cole. “Painting, assembling, casting the styrofoam.”
All 21 floats that will be featured in Thursday’s parade are built locally. But there’s more to it than just their appearance.
The cookie factory smells like fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies, and Santa’s workshop smells as fresh as a pine forest thanks to technology from ScentAir.
“Once we get done with this, I think everyone’s going to take a deep breath and figure out how we can make it better next year,” Cole said.
City officials expect 100,000 people to attend this year’s parade, the 70th annual, as the holiday season officially begins.
