YORK, S.C. -- Local authorities responded to a scene in York Tuesday night, according to the York Police Department.

The York County Sheriff's Office and York police officers responded to a call near Hunter Street in York a little after 7 p.m. Tuesday. York Police asked those who live within a half-mile radius of the area to shelter in place before the situation was deemed safe a little before 8:15 p.m.

Officials did not specify what led to the police scene.
