Charlotteans play, stock up supplies during Wednesday's winter weather

Some two or three inches of school fell over the Charlotte Metro area, closing schools, keeping many folks home from work and sending kids with sleds looking for the nearest hill.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Some two or three inches of school fell over the Charlotte Metro area, closing schools, keeping many folks home from work and sending kids with sleds looking for the nearest hill Wednesday.

Melissa Schuph, a mother, watched her kids slide down a hill in Dilworth.

"Its beautiful to look at," Schuph said. "The kids and adults are all having fun."

Most main roads were clear with some slushy spots but for the most part, driving around was relatively easy.

At the Park Road Shopping Center, crews worked to clear the snow as soon as it stopped so shoppers could get in and get last minute supplies.

Miguel Cardona came out with a cart loaded with food.

"Got some soup, peanut butter and jelly," he said.

Driving to and from the store, he described it as "not that bad."

It was just enough snow that if you like snow, it was great and if you have never seen snow before, it was even better.

Kayla Washabough and her family had only recently moved to Charlotte.

"We're from Florida so this is all new and wonderful to us," she said.
