CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. -- Coroners are investigating a deadly crash involving an ambulance in Chester County Wednesday afternoon.
According to the sheriff's office, a county ambulance was responding to a call around 1:30 p.m. Highway patrol said the ambulance went off the road on S.C. 97 near Powerline Drive in Chester, overcorrected and hit a 2003 Chevy Malibu.
A passenger inside the car, identified as 29-year-old Richard Langley of Blacksburg, was pronounced dead. Langley's wife and two children, ages 2 and 4, were flown to a Columbia hospital for treatment. The two-year-old suffered a broken arm and leg in the crash, authorities said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. No word yet if any charges will be filed.
