YORK COUNTY, S.C. -- Deputies say an inmate was erroneously released Thursday due to a clerical error.

The inmate, 37-year-old Joshua Earnest Peters, was released by the York County Detention Center when an officer misread the inmate's sentencing information.

A Quality Control Clerk later discovered the error Friday and attempts to locate Peters began immediately, deputies say.

Peters was found at a home in Pineville Saturday morning and is in Mecklenburg County Jail, awaiting transport back to the Moss Justice Center, deputies say.

Peters was originally booked for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, second offense. Peters plead guilty and was sentenced to 40 months in prison.
