HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – A group of four-legged friends get to show their stuff at Rural Hill for the weekend.

The annual Sheepdog Trials showcases canines with various skills competitions like herding sheep, agility demonstrations and the “long jump” competition into a pool of water.

Vendors also brought North Carolina beer, wine and food trucks. Hay rides were also available for the dog’s owners to enjoy.

However, the dogs are clearly the star of the show.

Rural Hill Executive director Jeff Fissel said watching the border collies work is his favorite thing about the trials.

“They get so excited about being out here doing what they’re doing, and get so happy being back there with their sheep, that’s the most fun part to see,” Fissel said. “All the people with their dogs just having a great time, that’s always a good time.”

The sheepdog trial continues through Sunday. Tickets are $11 for adults, $8 dollars for children five and over. Children four and under can attend the event for free.
