CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. -- Erica Parsons' adoptive parents haven't been charged with her disappearance and they say they have nothing do with it, but investigators haven't always bought that story.
The last time anyone remembers seeing Erica Parsons is November 2011. Two years later investigators searched the Parson's home on Miller Chapel Road in Salisbury. They combed for clues, searched the backyard and removed samples including parts of a blood-stained drywall.
"Mr. Parsons anything you want to say?" asked a reporter.
In 2014, Sandy and Casey Parsons were tried in federal court. They are Erica Parsons' adoptive parents.
The two told police that they left Erica with a grandmother in Asheville, but investigators found those claims to be false.
"You guys have been telling us for a long time that nothing was wrong and that you didn't do anything," said reporters.
Prosecutors say the two continued to collect food stamps, Medicaid and other government assistance after Erica vanished. Casey Parsons was sentenced to a decade behind bars and her husband Sandy received eight years.
"My family is just divided, and this is not a small thing to get divided about, this is big," said Sandy Parsons' brother.
