CONCORD, N.C. -- One person is in custody after a person was fatally shot in Concord Thursday afternoon.
**Update: This is a now a death investigation. The roadway is still closed at this time. The shooter in this case is currently being interviewed by detectives. No ongoing threat to the community. According to Concord Police, two people began arguing at Sarah's Pet Spa on Winecoff School Road around 1 p.m. When police arrived on the scene, one person was found suffering from a gunshot wound. The person, later identified as Deshawn Jermaine Tatem, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the suspected shooter is in police custody and the investigation has not been ruled a homicide.
Winecoff Elementary School was briefly on lockdown that was lifted at 1:25 p.m., according to Cabarrus County Schools.
