1. 4-year-old, father, run over by shoplifters at south Charlotte Harris Teeter

A father carrying his 4-year-old son out of a south Charlotte Harris Teeter store was hit by a hit-and-run driver Wednesday evening, causing serious injuries.

Police reports say around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Harris Teeter in the Blakeney Village shopping center, located at 9720 Rea Road, a suspect who stole a 24-pack of Bud Light came running out of the store, passing 41-year-old Nathan Green and his son.

2. Target will take your child's old car seat and give you a coupon for a new one

Giving you one more reason to head to Target, the super popular car seat trade-in event returns next week.

Exchange your child’s old car seat, from the car or its spot in the garage where it’s fermenting from Goldfish and sippy cup residue, to Target for a 20 percent discount coupon on a new car seat, booster seat, car seat base, or travel system.

3. Donate to local schools by filling up at Circle K Thursday afternoon

If you need to fill up your car’s gas tank, there’s a good reason to do so Thursday.

Circle K is teaming up with high schools in six counties across the Charlotte area for a fundraiser, with 10 cents from every gallon sold being donated to 20 local schools.

The benefit runs from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, but if you don’t fill up Thursday, don’t worry. Throughout the entire year, schools will receive one cent for every gallon sold at their sponsoring store. Click here for a complete list of participating Circle K locations and schools.

4. Charlotte man says his Corvette was torched because he's gay

NBC Charlotte has obtained surveillance video of man's dream car going up in flames, and police are calling it a case of arson.

Seth Headley said he awoke Wednesday morning to the devastating sight, and he's hoping the video will help catch the person responsible. He believed he was targeted because he's gay.

At first, it seemed random, but a check of Headley's home surveillance video revealed a man igniting the car and leaving in a truck.

"He literally came down the hill with his lights off. He was then looking like he was going to pass the house, but its like something caught his attention to the left. It could've been the pride flag," said Headley. Click here to continue reading.

5. Charlotte woman desperate to find missing service dog

Rachel Feder and Bandit have been each other's saving grace for the past three years.

"I'm a recovering addict," Feder told NBC Charlotte. "I've been clean for three years, and I got her that week. My counselor said it would be good for me to have her."

Feder suffers from severe social anxiety disorder. Bandit keeps her calm when she is about to panic.On April 13, the beagle disappeared. She was last seen in the area of Wallace Road and Wallace Lane off East Independence. Anyone with information is asked to call Animal Control at 704-336-7600.
