NC House approves bill to carry concealed handguns without a permit

House Bill 746 would allow people to carry concealed handguns without a permit only in the same places where they currently are allowed to carry handguns openly. It passed its final of three votes in the House 64-51.

The bill has created yet another rift between gun rights supporters and gun control advocates. The measure would still need the Senate's approval before it could go to Gov. Roy Cooper's desk.

Woman killed after massage appointment had ‘bad feeling' about meeting

The 24-year-old woman, Kayla Denham, authorities have described as a massage therapist arrived for an appointment with a client before dawn Monday but texted her boyfriend and asked him to keep his phone on because she had a “bad feeling” about the meeting.

A short time later, Denham was dead.

According to an affidavit for the arrest of Christopher Landry, the 25-year-old man beat Denham in the head with a pipe and strangled her after a massage that included a “sexual favor.”

Dog flu hits Charlotte area

More cases right are being reported right here in our area, and some of the local veterinarians are encouraging clients to get their pets vaccinated.

The flu is spreading at dog shows in other states and just hit North Carolina – there are two known deadly cases and a woman in Davidson says her seven dogs all got it when they were competing at an out-of-state show.
