GASTONIA, N.C. -- Gastonia Police continue to investigate two armed robberies occurring in a two-hour span on Monday night.

The first happened just after 7:15 p.m. at a Wendy's off Franklin Boulevard and Myrtle School Road.

The second happened a few miles away around 9:20 p.m. at a Family Dollar off Garrison Boulevard.

In a 911 call obtained by NBC Charlotte, a Family Dollar clerk can be heard struggling to describe the robber.

"All I really saw was the gun," the caller said. "Very shiny, silver-plated gun."

According to a police report, officers obtained surveillance video from that robbery for evidence.

Detectives don't believe the two robberies are connected, but the crimes are still under investigation with no named suspects yet.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000.
