BESSEMER CITY, N.C. -- State troopers say one person is dead following a multiple-vehicle accident on I-85 along Bessemer City Sunday morning.

According to troopers, the crash took place at 7:50 a.m. on I-85 south near exit 10. The accident involved a Honda Odyssey and another car, troopers say.

Troopers say the second vehicle was coming from behind and hit the right bumper of the Honda Odyssey. Upon impact, the vehicle swerved to the right, hit an embankment and overturned several times.

One occupant was ejected from the car and killed. The other occupant was partially ejected and is currently being airlifted to CMC Main with life-threatening injures.
