CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Large power outages caused dangerous conditions after major intersections went dark in north Charlotte Thursday night.

According to Duke energy, two big sections along West WT Harris Boulevard had power outages, and street lights were not operating, causing traffic congestion along the buys road.

As of 11 p.m. Thursday night, some 500 people along the 15-mile stretch are still without power. At one point, nearly 1000 people didn't have any power.

The remaining outages are expected to be fixed late Thursday into early Friday.

No potential causes of the outages have been identified.
